Lots going on in our ministry these days!
Prayers for families that have recently lost young loved ones. The streets of Regina’s North Central, imbued with hopelessness, drugs, and violence continue to claim young lives. I did a funeral for a young person last week (June 27) and have been asked to do another one this coming week.
I also am invited to share at 2 churches over the next three weeks, and am super excited about that! At Gentle Road, Vivan and I will be helping out with Mission 6:10, which is their annual week-long outreach event which includes a daily prayer walk, supper, youth and children’s ministry as adult discipleship classes.
Also please pray for special events planning for August, September, and October! I am also looking for volunteers who would be willing to help plan one or more of those events. If you are able to help me out and can spare a few hours, I would welcome your input. Please call or email me of you are interested.
And finally, I want to pass on an email sent by Kevin Vance, pastor of Gentle Road about the very special service we had this past Sunday.
Homeless lady baptized
Sunday night a homeless lady named Shelly was baptized into Christ. She had been sleeping between garbage cans and wherever else. One night 4 women beat her up and robbed her of everything. She was desperate and cried out to Jesus. She also called Nick and Vivian Helliwell (who are now part of Gentle Road), who had recently reached out to her while on the street. She turned her life over to Christ, and Jesus set her free from her addiction. Praise God for his mighty works! Nick and Vivian then took her into their home, they had been discipling her, she has a job and is looking for her own house. I am so grateful to God for the street ministry that Nick and Vivian do!
Sunday night Shelly was baptized, and she invited her family. Her daughter Jennifer and her 4 kids came, and they have already asked to come back. Please pray for this family – for Shelly to grow deeper in her faith walk, for Jennifer and her family to come to Christ. God is at work!
