Keeping Up with Caylea
Merry Christmas!
I want to wish everyone a wonderful season celebrating the coming of Jesus! Before 2023 end I have many highlight to share with you on the last few months. At the end of summer we celebrated 75 years of Big River Bible Camp. With the help of the local church and NCEM we were able to have a service at the camp as well as a concert/meal to follow. The best part was having Dorlene Petkau share with us about the very first summer of camp at BRBC where she attended as a camper and gave her life to Jesus. To this day her and her husband continue to help at the camp! Shortly after this event I headed down to Pinawa, MB for our general staff conference with NCEM. A highlight from that week was meeting with the other camp staff within the mission and finding the nearest ice cream shop. We now owe Pine Ridge a treat! Right after my trip to Manitoba I moved again! I was so blessed to have a studio suite in town to rent for the summer but with such a small space I knew it wouldn’t be long term. I now have fully moved into a home on the camp property. Which meant many trips for my parents bringing my stuff from Regina in the truck! I have been loving the space and learning new skills like keeping a wood stove going to heat the place. It is also very handy to be on site to better host our rental groups at the camp.
With the colder weather here that means the best season of all came…curling season!!
This has been a great way for me to connect with people in town outside of my camp and be involved in the community. This year I kicked the new season off by organizing an adult curling clinic for beginners. I could not do it alone and brought in a professional by the name of Daniel Selke! My brother and his wife came for a visit and I just had to get Daniel on the ice with me to help with this event. We had 8-10 people sho up and they were all excited and appreciated it a lot. The curling club is already asking about the next one! Myself and the Gabrielson family are still managing the camp as best as we can with a lot of responsibilities.
There is no update on any new staff or director at this moment. My PR work has slowed down with camp being a priority but I did manage to get a trip to Toronto to share about NCEM at a missions conference. The whole place was wearing Tribal Trails shirts by the end of it! To finish. off this busy year, I was able to take a much needed two week break. I flew to a warmer land called Florida and had the best time soaking up the sun and seeing new sites. Thank you so much for your prayers and support. Feel free to reach out with any questions or even schedule a visit together. Enjoy the last of 2023!
