Chiruza’s January 2024 Missions Update

Athanase and Beatta Chiruza

Global Gospel Advance

What is the Global Gospel Advance (GGA)?

The GGA is a partnership between Parliament Community Church, Multiply and SKMB to support the work of Pastor Athanase Chiruza.  Athanase engages in leadership development of pastors, planters and evangelists within the African diaspora churches around the world.

A Personal Update

First of all, I thank God our Lord who is faithful to me, my family and the ministry he has called me to. I also want to express my sincere appreciation to Rev. Phil Gunther (SKMB Director of Ministry) for his encouragement and support.  I also recognize the significant role Parliament Community Church, Multiply and supporting SKMB churches have played in my life and ministry.  I am deeply appreciative of the gifts, words of encouragement and prayers.  Many thanks to my GGA team (Kevin & Vicki Clarke, Scott Siemens and Dave Reddekopp), they have been by my side from the beginning of this new venture, especially in their help with visiting SKMB churches.  I am also thankful for my own church family, Mission Pentecostal Church who keeps me in their prayers.  May the Lord bless them all.  Finally, I am so grateful for my family, especially my wife Beata. She is special and my heroine. She always encourages and prays for me.  She carries the responsibility of the family and church in my absence with great zeal.  May the Lord bless her.

I am recovering from medical treatments which I received last fall.  I struggled with nerve pain and had cancer treatments. I was on sick leave from September to December. I feel healthy and positive going into 2024.  Thank you for your prayers.  I have strength for the work and look forward to on-going health in my body for ministry.

Ministry Update

Praise the Lord!  By the grace of God, 2023 was a year of great harvest during my mission trips and conferences.  These events took place in the USA, EUROPE and within CANADA. Many came to Jesus and others were spiritually renewed. I also faced a lot of challenges in my life last year. Satan brought me many afflictions to test my resolve for gospel ministry and leadership development. I thank God who saved me from those difficulties and has given me more time to serve Him.

I visited eight SKMB churches 2022-2023.  During our visits, our GGA team introduces our work and invites churches to partner with us.

In addition to my role with the GGA, I continue to serve as pastor at Mission Pentecostal Church (Regina).  In 2023 we received four new families from Africa. Among them were two pastors. Our numbers have increased. We are now 78 souls. I continue to organize the leadership in the church, preaching on Sundays assisted by Pastor Innocent. Pastor Medard (Carmel Pentecostal Church, Saskatoon) and I continue to lead a zoom service everyday. The teaching lesson we have in January is serving God (Deuteronomy 13:4): “It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere.  Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.”

Upcoming

Mission Pentecostal Church (MPC), Carmel Pentecostal Church (CPC), Parliament Community Church, SKMB and Multiply are looking forward to a Global Revival Conference in 2024 at Parliament Commute Church, Regina. Pastor Medard and I are the primary planners and hosts for this event. Leaders from Canada, USA and other countries are being invited. We are also welcoming the ABMB and SKMB family to join us. The Theme is from 1 Kings 18:21 – “Elijah went before the people and said “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God follow him but if Baal is God follow him.  But the people said nothing.”  MPC and CPC are planning the conference logistics.

We are still early the planning stage for further international mission ventures in 2024. Stay tuned for more details and perhaps some projects which you can support. I can share that I will attend a conference in Finland (July 26-28), and I hope to later visit churches in Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. I will serve by preaching, teaching leadership seminars and ordaining ministers.
