Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will
fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,   for which I am an ambassador in
chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should”. Ephesians 6:19-20

It’s been a month of sorting and packing and letting go of ‘things’. Finally, my boxes were picked up
on February 28th . The efficiency of Yamato International movers is amazing. It was
pretty cool watching them ‘build a box’ for the antique mirror (the only furniture I’ve
kept). This was a gift from a former student about 15 years ago, and it belonged to her
mother, so it holds a special place in my heart. Pray for the shipment to go smoothly and that everything will arrive safely in Canada.

On Feb. 2 nd I went on a one-day trip to Shirakawago (a small village in the mountains) with the
Fujigaoka ladies night class. The ‘gassho’ (thick straw roofed homes) are a UNESCO
World Heritage Site and for 3 weekends in February, they light them up in the evening.
It’s the 2 nd time I’ve been here in 16 years and was so glad to share it with these
students. We were quite fortunate as on Feb. 3 rd a huge blizzard hit that area of Japan
and the highways were closed, along with Shirakawago bus tours.

It was a huge blessing to have a team come from Canada in early February. Unfortunately, the
weather here wasn’t very welcoming. A couple of the team members got stuck the
first night in Tokyo as a snowstorm hit Osaka & the surrounding
area. Then the other team members who managed to get to
Osaka, couldn’t come to Nagoya because the highway was
closed. I was very happy though that Pastor Rod Adrian
(Central Heights Church) and his wife, Amanda, were able to
come through from Tokyo by Shinkansen. They arrived on
Friday evening (Feb. 7 th ) and then on Saturday, Lisa Devries
(Greendale MB Church) arrived from Osaka (a normally 55 minute Shinkansen trip
that took almost 2 ½ hours!). We enjoyed spending time with Komaki
Hope Chapel students on the 8 th and then attended Fujigaoka Christ
Church on the 9 th . After they left in the afternoon, I had a small concert
with the Tenpaku OneVoice gospel group…a busy weekend for sure
but so beautiful to pray with church family members from Canada! Thank you so
much for coming and encouraging me!

There have been a number of farewell lunches already and it all seems very surreal
since I’m still here for another month. The first group farewell was with the OneVoice
Okazaki group and ESL class. They presented me with a gorgeous
bouquet and personal gifts. The biggest surprise was with my
advanced gospel choir group on Feb. 23 rd . At the end of practice,
they had me stand at the front holding a bag. While they sang “O Happy Day”, each
member came forward and put a personal note attached to a
Japanese snack in the bag…and then gave me a big hug (even the men!). I just
stood there crying for the most part as I experienced their love flow over me. I pray that each of these wonderful people will one day experience the best love of all, the love of Jesus, in
a personal way.

I was also able to spend time with some former Toyota students
that I hadn’t seen in a long time and connected with once again. I
am grateful that I get the opportunity to meet up with many former
students and continue to build into their lives. Please pray for
Mitsue’s daughter, Saki, as she awaits her visa to move to the US
where she will be married. It’s also a joy to meet with former
Fujigaoka & Komaki students who have kept in touch with me.
Although I haven’t seen many of them lately, please pray for all of
these ladies and that they will know God’s love and peace in their
lives.

Some praise items:

  • Praise the Lord that I was able to get all my packing done in February and my boxes were
picked up on the 28 th . Pray that everything will arrive safely in Canada within a reasonable time
    frame.
  • Praise God for the Canada team in early February and for the impact they had on many
people. Pray that the seeds planted during their visit will reap a bountiful harvest.
  • Praise God for the love I feel from the students in the farewells (with still a few more to go).
There have been lots of tears and hugs and with only one more month to go, I know there will
be many more tears and hugs. It seems very strange to imagine that in April, I’ll be back in
Canada, but I’m also praising the Lord that I will see many of you once again
    Some prayer items:
  • Please continue to pray for Chizuko Fuwa who continues to battle pancreatic cancer. Pray for
her fever to drop so she can begin radiation therapy
  • Pray for Heather N. who has been moved to hospice. Pray for the family as they walk on this
    difficult journey.
  • Pray for the family of Arnold Stobbe (of Saskatoon) who passed away in February at 96 years
of age. I had the pleasure of visiting Arnold and Helena a few times on my MINA in the past.
Arnold was a faithful prayer warrior and encouraged me with monthly verses. Pray for peace &
comfort for Helena and the family.
  • Pray for me to end well with the last classes this month. Pray for peace for the students and for
energy and joy for me as I transition from teaching to a new journey with Jesus in Canada.
Pray for me to find reasonably-priced housing as I know rents have risen drastically.
As always, none of these ministries would have been possible without your prayers, support and
encouragement. I appreciate each and every one of you and look forward to sharing with you when I
    get back to Canada.
  • Blessings and love,
    Wendy
