“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have
told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?” John 14:2

I can’t believe it’s almost the end of June, and the time since I’ve been home has gone by so quickly.

This is my second to last Japanadian newsletter and I thank you all for reading it for the past 19
years! I am thankful that I have been able to see many of you already and the summer is going to be
busy with many former students coming to visit…praise the Lord. I’ll write out my schedule here so
then you’ll know what I’m up to.

June 26 th – July 13 th : My friend and ‘sister’, Yuki, will come and visit for 2 weeks. We will attend CHC
on the 29 th and GMB (Greendale MB) on July 6 th and spend some time travelling around the valley.

July 17 th : Help out at summer VBS for the day at CHC.

July 21 st – 27 th : Hiroko (a Fujigaoka student) will come for 1 week with her 2 children, aged 20 & 25.
We will go to Victoria, Whistler and then spend 2 days in Abbotsford.

Aug. 5 th – 13 th : Mina (the first student I hosted in Abbotsford back in 1993) and her daughter, Ena will
come and we will drive to the Rockies, Drumheller and Calgary.

Aug. 13 th – 19 th : I will head to Regina for one night and then to Minnedosa, Manitoba for 4 nights. There is a 140 year reunion of the Huns Valley (Polonia) where my great-grandparents settled when
they came from Hungary. I’m the only one from my immediate family who is able to attend and I’m
looking forward to meeting some cousins I never knew I had. As well, I will take a tour of the Eros
family farm, which is apparently still operating and is owned by one of my cousins. I’ve never been
there before and I’m very excited about learning more of my heritage! I plan to go to Winnipeg on the
18 th and visit with a long-time prayer warrior & supporter, Elfrieda Dick, and hopefully meet up with
Doris Goertz (former teammate in Japan).

Aug. 29 th – Sept. 20 th : One of the former Moose students, Miwa, will come to study English with me for
3 weeks. We will do some day trips around the valley and she will attend church with me on Sundays.

Sept. 23 rd – Oct. 5 th : I will drive out to Calgary to pick up 3 students from Toyota Higashi Church on
the 26 th . We will drive over to Drumheller, up to Edmonton then to Jasper and down the Icefields
Parkway to Lake Louise & Banff. They leave from Calgary on Oct. 3 rd and then I will head back to
Abbotsford to settle in for the winter!

I’m so grateful to the Lord that I will have continued opportunities to build into my former students’
lives. Yuki was the first of my students to be baptized so we have a very special connection already.
Please pray for the other students and that while they are with me, God’s love and beauty will be
evident in all we do.

On June 16 th , I was celebrated by Multiply as I approach my
retirement on July 31 st . It was lovely to see so many staff and
some supporters join in this special time of sharing, reflecting and
prayers of encourage-ment. Thank you Multiply for partnering
with me for almost 19 years!

On a very sad note, Valerie Jean Blakesley, one of my dear friends for over 30 years
went to be with the Lord on June 19 th . When her son, Robin, called me on Sunday with
the news I was very sad as I had just been texting with her on Friday. I’m grateful that I
had the joy and privilege of baptizing her with Pastor Lyndon over 20 years ago so I
know we will meet again one day. Please pray for her husband, Micky McIntosh and her
sons, Robin & Michael along with her grandchildren.

It’s been difficult to spend as much time as I would like with my granddaughters but I’m happy that
they have both passed school. Arianna (14) will attend summer school for a month for Math.
She will be going into Grade 10 in the fall and Payton (12) will be entering Grade 8. Where
have the years gone?? It was fun going to Castle Fun Park for the afternoon with the girls
and my son, Trevor. My grandson, Asher, will turn 2 on July 4 th and is still in Saskatchewan
with his mom, Courtney. They will be back the 2 nd week of July and I can hardly wait to see him again.

I was also able to enjoy an evening with my younger son, Steve (right) as he hosted
several of his friends at his house on Saturday evening. It was a ‘create your own
pizza night’ and we formed teams to make and share interesting pizzas that you
wouldn’t be able to order from the store. Our team, the Velociraptors, made the
tastiest (in my opinion…hahaha).

As I close, I have a few items of praise & prayer:

  • Praise the Lord for time with my family. It’s not easy to see them often because of their work
schedules and my travel plans so I’m very grateful for the times we have together.
  • Praise the Lord for my retirement tea at the Multiply office and for those who were able to attend.
  • Praise the Lord for the extra support that has been coming in. I still need approx. $12,000 to finish
well. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with me before the end of July? If so, please check
out the information below and thank you so much!
  • Please pray for the family of Valerie Jean and that God will cover them with peace and comfort
during this difficult time. Pray that her sons and grandchildren will come to know the Lord.
  • Pray for the students who are coming to visit and that they will learn more about God while they are
    here.
Thank you always for your support, prayers, encouragement and friendship. I’m so grateful to each
and every one of you for helping to make my ministries in Japan possible for all of these years.
    Love and blessings,
    Wendy
