New Focus

We are well into 2021 and past the halfway mark until spring. Cindy has put the last of the Christmas decorations away for another year. Now our regular life continues on. This letter is to update you on a couple of new developments.

As our support team, you have followed our journey as we lead Healing Hearts Ministries and directed NCEM. God has given us grace to juggle the two organizations and we have experienced His power at work. However, as we entered our fifth year of dual responsibilities, we realized a change was needed. Just as we felt the call to step down from our role in leading HHM (Healing Hearts Ministry), a new board member with HHM, Dale Bergren, stepped up.

As of December 31, 2020, we handed the role over to Dale, who will serve as transitional director, while Walter continues to give input and consultation as needed. Our focus will now be on the responsibilities with NCEM as General Director and Cindy as Personnel Coordinator. Please pray for Dale. On January 2nd he had a heart attack and has had to slow down some of his responsibilities in this challenging role.

We will remain as Healing Hearts Missionaries and continue to receive our support through HHM. Our home base will remain in Regina. Once restrictions lift, we plan to travel, visit missionaries and present the First Nations ministry wherever we go! God has given us encouragement and peace as the HHM Board stands behind our decision and has released us with their blessing.

Health Update

At long last, the various tests and procedures that were postponed have all been scheduled in the month on January! After a stress test, angiogram and echocardiogram, Walter’s heart has been thoroughly tested and examined. No issues could be found and the cardiologist is satisfied with his heart health.

After last year’s annual physical, Walter went in for more tests on his prostate. It was discovered that he has very early stage prostate cancer. The doctor has put him on active monitoring. That means every six months he gives blood as they watch his PSA levels. Walter continues his active ministry life but does tell people that growing old is not that much fun! With his strict diet of low fat and low sugar, his other symptoms seem to be under control. More follow up will continue.

Thank you all for praying and checking in with us in regards to Walter’s health. We will keep you updated as we find out more.
