“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” ~ Philippians 4:19
Sometimes unexpected things happen in life and we have a choice of how we will respond. A couple of weeks ago, Break Free Outreach Ministries (HHMI) Board made the decision to reduce staff because delays in obtaining the permits for the renovation drew heavily on the financial reserves. As of September 12, I was one of the staff that was laid off. I have been told that they do want me back once Break Free is up and running but at this time I do not know when that will be or what it will look like.
I was not expecting this, but it is not a surprise to God. He has encouraged me in many ways the last couple of weeks. There are a couple of devotionals that I receive by email regularly. On September 12, there were two that stood out to me. One was God is Still on the Throne—He works according to a plan and a purpose, He is in control of everything yet He still watches over every detail of my life. Another one was Embrace the Journey. God is in control and I look forward to seeing how He is going to work in me and at Break Free.
During the next couple of months I will take time for rest and rejuvenation—physically and spiritually. I look forward to waiting on God and taking time to listen for His leading. I ask you to pray with me as I seek God’s will for the future. I am planning to go back, but I want to be open to do what God wants for me. During this time I will continue to meet with the gals I mentor/disciple.
The permits for the renovation have been received and work will begin next week. They are planning the grand opening for December 1 with some programming starting in mid-October. Break Free Outreach Ministries is a faith-based Christian organization, dependent on the gifts of others to do the work they believe God has given them to do. Financially, all resources are pooled to ensure the organization can provide programs and services to the most vulnerable in our community, specifically North Central, and for staff salaries. I believe that Break Free has the potential to have a great impact in the community. Prayer, volunteers, and financial support will be needed for the ministry.
The website for Break Free Outreach Ministries was launched this week and gives information on what the plans are for the ministry. Check it out at www.breakfreeoutreach.ca.
I am thankful for your faithful and generous support over the last 10 years—prayer, encouragement, and financial support. You have been valued partners in the ministry for which I am grateful. I was greatly blessed to have you as partners in the ministry God called me to.
