MCC is celebrating 100 years of mission!  Come hear stories of service and have an opportunity to help others by assembling hygiene kits.

Randy Klassen – Indigenous Neighbours Coordinator & Church Engagement Coordinator, MCC Saskatchewan. Randy has served with MCC for 4 years, recently moving into the dual roles of Indigenous Neighbours Coordinator and Church Engagement Coordinator. Prior to that, he served as a pastor, and a Bible instructor at Bethany College.

Here at PCC we know him as Pastor Athanase, but for many around the world he is Bishop Athanase.  Join us as he shares about his continuing work in Africa, Europe, USA and within Canada.  His bio is part of ‘Missionary Profiles’

Scott Siemens – Scott & Julie Siemens made PCC their home church in the summer of 1985.  Scott served on the Administrative Council in the late 80’s and then as Chair of the Elders Board for a decade from 2005 – 2015.  In the intervening years, Scott & Julie served as international service workers with Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) from 1996 to 2001 after which Scott served as the Director of Mennonite Voluntary Service from 2002 to 2007 guiding young adult volunteer programs in Mennonite churches across the United States.  Just 3 weeks ago, Scott finished 17 years as a Board Director (and Treasurer) of MCC, during which he reviewed, audited, and supported programs in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Vietnam & Ukraine.  Scott now works for the Government of Canada as a Labour Relations Mediator responsible for clients across western Canada.

Missionary Profiles

Matt & Ruth Braun (MB Mission, Winnipeg) – Matt and Ruth serve with the Mobilization Team in Central Canada and are involved with the Global Media Network. They also train missional leaders, in particular through SOAR, and support church plants in regions of Central Asia.

James & Dena Clifford (Youth for Christ, Regina) – James serves with Youth for Christ Canada and Youth for Christ International, with their Online Relational Evangelism project.

Richard & Hazel Funk (MB Mission, Austria) – Richard and Hazel serve as Member Care facilitators to missionaries in Europe and Central Asia, providing mentoring, teaching, and discipleship to Austrian church leaders.

Nick & Vivian Helliwell (Healing Hearts Ministries, Regina) – Nick & Vivian are faith missionaries serving Urban Indigenous peoples in Regina, Saskatchewan.  Nick also serves as a half-time chaplain at the Regina Provincial Corrections Centre.  Nick and his wife Vivian have raised many children over the years, having been foster parents for over 15 years.

Kirstie Kline (Youth for Christ, Regina) – Kirstie is a Discipleship Coordinator with YFC Regina, running youth discipleship programs, mentorship groups and meeting with youth one-on-one.

Arlene & Wally Schroeder (Healing Hearts Ministries, Regina) – Arlene serves with Healing Hearts Ministries in the area of mentorship and women’s ministries.

Walter & Cindy Selke (Healing Hearts & NCEM, Regina) – Walter is Executive Director of HH Ministries, Inc. and General Director for Northern Canadian Evangelical Mission with headquarters in Prince Albert.

Madou Traore (Burkina Faso) – Engages in church planting, discipling new believers, and training local leaders among the Nanerige people.

Cory & Masami Giesbrecht (MB Mission, Japan) – This couple works with local Mennonite Brethren churches in the areas of community outreach, evangelism and leadership development. They also have a passion for the marginalized, and minister in small group settings to those who are living on the streets of Osaka.

Bishop Athanase and Beata Chiruza – Bishop Athanase works with churches that God has established through connections he made while in Africa, or that have grown from those church plants.  Many who he has invested in have now moved to the United States, Europe and cities within Canada creating new churches.  Others continue to pastor in Africa within refugee communities.  Bishop Athanase provides guidance to these churches and, when possible, responds to invitations to visit, encouraging members of the body of Christ with the word of God.  During this season of covid, he has remained connected virtually.  Working out of PCC in Regina, Bishop Athanase also pastors Mission Pentecostal Church.
