Happy New Year!
Six months to go until day one of camp! That
might sound silly to say but the countdown
always begins even the day camp is over for
the summer. Once fall rentals are over and the
Christmas festivities are done it is right back to
summer prep.
This year will look a lot different for me in
regards to how much time I will have to be a
part of preparations. Starting February 1st I
have been approved by NCEM to take a 3
month sabbatical. Since becoming co-director
of BRBC it has brought growth in my life but
also many challenges and hardships. With
another family joining the team I feel that I am
able to take a rest while others carry the
responsibility for awhile. This means that the
month of January will be quite busy in setting
up all the 2025 camper registrations and staff
applications for our website. Rental decisions
and starting to search for camp speakers will
also be on my list.
During my sabbatical I will still be staying in
Big River for most of it as I would not be able to
leave for that long. Some plans I have during
that time is taking a module class at Millar
College of the Bible, visiting family and
possibly a fun holiday trip to a warmer place.
My goal is that my time away from ministry
will allow my heart to rest from some of the
hardships I have faced so I am able to keep
moving forward in a healthier rhythm. I also
want to evaluate what areas of my job I can
keep going in and maybe some areas I need to
let go of.
Feel free to reach out to me if you have
any questions. I so appreciate your prayers
as I want to transition well into this break
and use the time well.
In other news I am very excited to share an
answer to prayer as we had a great
turnout for our staff retreat. Anyone who
worked at camp this past summer was
invited to join us for a weekend in
November. Our speaker brought some
great teaching of God’s word as well as
small group discussions and prayer. We
had near 25 staff come and many were a
part of the L.I.T program this summer. I
was especially encouraged by the many
conversations I had with the young girls.
After building relationships with them all
summer they were ready to talk deeper
and ask the hard questions about life.
“As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven, and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and
bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth:It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire.” ~Isaiah 55:10-11~ and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
