Giesbrecht’s December 2021 Missions Update

“Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in.
Who is he, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty—he is the King of glory.”
~ Psalm 24:7-10

Soul Care

We have been having lots of adventures with outreach trips to Nagoya, Toyota and Hamamatsu, with prayer walking in Nara, and with the park church in the core area of Osaka.

However, we would like to focus this prayer letter on a project which we have just started and are quite excited about: the translation of the book Soul Care into Japanese.

Soul Care is a book by Dr. Rob Reimer which Multiply has been using to help bring healing to all of its missionaries and staff-workers for the last several years. Masami and I have both been impacted by the book and the intimate small-group seminars which have been offered. For me (Cory), Soul Care has helped me strengthen my identity in Christ and also drive out fear (less fear is good for evangelis!). For Masami, Soul Care has helped her with healing and anger. It has also helped us get a lot more intimate with the people that we teamed up with to go through the book.

We don’t just want to publish a book in Japanese, but we hope to use the material as a central part of our work moving forward. We think that Jesus’ soul healing is just as necessary for long-term Japanese church members as it is for the new disciples from the park church downtown. Of course, we would also recommend this book to you as a prayer partner!

On the same day that we decided to officially kick off the project we received a donation from Parliament Community Church for a special project; even though we have never has a special project before! Praise God! We trust Jesus is leading us forward to this project. We still need to raise another $6,000 to complete the translation and publishing.

If you feel that God is calling you to give to this project, please make a donation here.

Thank you for praying,

Cory and Masami
