It has been over a year since my move to Big River and I am blessed to have a place to rent and feel more settled in this new community. As some areas of my life have been smoothing out after this big transition there has now been a lot more changes to navigate and figure out.
We have had a very difficult few months at BRBC where two staff families have had to step out of their positions at camp. This sudden departure left the remaining staff hurt and not knowing how to move forward with the camp season. Myself and another couple(Lucas & Sara Gabrielson) have been placed as interim co-directors of BRBC for the time being. The next big question, only two days before June 1, was what do we do with camp?
We knew a full summer of camp was not possible due to these quick changes but by God’s grace He lead us to still run two of our weeks of summer camp which were Teen Camp and Kids Week 1. God brought just the right people to step in and make those two weeks happen including a summer director to oversee the staff so that myself and the Gabrielson’s could continue in our other jobs at camp.
I can honestly say that our Teen Camp had ran as smooth as it ever has. 53 teens were able to spend a week growing in the Lord and learning about God’s perfect love for them.
The next week was a little more difficult as I was back to leading the LIT girls. I love this job but putting 10 girls together under one roof will almost always bring out some drama!
Overall as these two weeks were happening all I could do was sit in thankfulness that camp was still going. It was so evident that no matter what happens BRBC is still God’s camp and He was doing the work.
The camp is still busy hosting different rentals and soon our 75th Anniversary celebration. After the summer season is over we are trusting God’s leading in what happens next for this year at camp. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. Check out Big River Bible Camp’s social media to see the recap of our two weeks of camp. Although it’s been busy stay tuned for more interviews being posted on NCEM’s social media platforms as well!
