I am officially back after my 3-month sabbatical! I am so thankful that I had that time off; overall, it was really good for me. I enjoyed my time sitting in on a class at Millar College of the Bible, visiting my missionary friends in Costa Rica and many long walks with my dog Lindy at home. My grandma turned 90 this year and so I was able to make it to Edmonton to celebrate with her and all the extended family as well. The times that I was home was very calm and quiet as I spent a lot of time reflecting, reading, walking, praying and overall cleaning in my house. I was also thrilled to still be around and teach curling to the grade 5 class in town as well as teach some drama workshops in the school. I love these ways that God has gifted me in and it gives me a way to connect with the local schools.

I wish I could say that my time away gave me the full refresh I needed but there was also news shared during that time that I knew was going to cause huge changes again to camp when I returned. My co-directors Sara and Lucas decided to hand in their resignations to NCEM and be officially finished at the camp by the end of May. That was very difficult news for me to hear. The three of us have worked so well together and I have developed such a close friendship with their family over the last 7 years. I have appreciated them so much and will miss them dearly.

Knowing the big changes coming there had to be some decisions made on what this means for the camp.

The executive of NCEM decided that they want to appoint me as the director of the camp. Thankfully I do still have Bob and Julianna around to be director assistants. They are a huge help!

I have been asking God “Why me?” as I think about all the wild changes that have happened leading me to this position. The verse that keeps coming to mind a lot is 2 Corinthians 12:9 ““ My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.””

I know that God will be revealed even more as He uses an imperfect person like me in a honourable position. I am very excited to say that after being gone I did come back to a lot of great people wanting to come serve this summer at camp. The weeks are coming together well and I love organizing all the pieces together. There is a great summer to look forward to!

Thank you so much for your prayers and support. Feel free to reach out and see if there is a spot for you to serve this summer too!
