There is always a strong contrast for me between Christmas and Easter. Christmas is a season in which we prepare for months with shopping and decorating. Aside from buying chocolate, Easter appears to be a more understated holiday with less preparation time for celebration. Like Christmas, we enjoy a big feast while forgoing the exchange of gifts.

While Easter is less significant culturally, it holds greater importance in terms of faith. In Easter, we discover God’s salvation through Jesus. We witness the depth of God’s love! Therefore, I hope you’ll be intentional in celebrating the gift of Jesus and His sacrifice for us.  Here are some ways you can join us in celebrating this Easter season:

1)        Inviting Others
Easter is a natural time to invite others to church. We encourage you to invite people or even reach out to your community. We have some invitations available for you to distribute in your neighborhood. They will be in the church foyer over the next few weeks. Our goal is to distribute 1,000 invitations to our Easter services. Of course, a personal invitation within a relationship will always be more impactful, and we hope you’ll be praying about whom to invite!

2)        Prayer
Be praying for those in our community who do not know the good news of Jesus. Be praying they are open to invitations or even seek out Jesus wherever they are. Consider picking five people to pray for specifically over the coming weeks.

3)        Good Friday Service
Join us for a reflective service on Good Friday (April 18th) at 10:30 am.  Good Friday is when we remember the costs of our sins, look back on the events leading up to the crucifixion and the price Jesus paid on the cross for us. This helps us remember where we came from and what God has done.

4)        Easter Service
Easter Sunday is a service of celebration. Our service begins at 10:45 am. We proclaim the good news that Jesus lives! It is a reminder of the miracle of Jesus being raised from the grave, but it also helps us look forward with hope because Christ is alive! We hope you’ll join us for this celebration service.
While these events and options are important, we hope, most of all, that you will live a life of celebration and thanksgiving for what God has done for us through Jesus. May the grace of Jesus, the hope of the resurrection, and the promise of all things made new encourage and sustain you.
