This week’s blog post is a mix of several random thoughts I wanted to share.

Lent Has Begun
Yesterday, March 5th, Ash Wednesday marked the beginning of Lent. At PCC, we held a meaningful prayer gathering for our church and concluded with a blessing for Ash Wednesday. Lent is a season of reflection and preparation, traditionally observed through three practices: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving (charitable giving to the poor).
I encourage you to think about how you can invest in one or more of these practices. Consider fasting from something in your life and using the free time to pray. Alternatively, give up something to save money and use those savings to help those in need.
In terms of Lenten devotional resources, here are several that I value:

Q&A’s with Pastor Mike
In the service, I’ve been answering questions from the kids in the church—mostly related to the sermon. We’re moving this to be a weekly part of Sunday by playing recorded answers prior to the service. Please ensure your kids are in the sanctuary early to hear the answers to the previous week’s questions. We’ll also be sharing these on social media and in the E-news. Adults can ask questions by texting 306-992-2611.

Teaching This Week
This week, I’m trying something new! I’ve been asked to teach a week-long class at Eston Bible College here in Regina titled “Philosophy and Practice of Ministry.” This is my first time doing anything like this, and I’m excited to see how it goes! If you think of it this week, please pray for me (or the students!). Thank you, as a church, for allowing me to contribute to the body of Christ in Regina in this way.

Coffee Time
I hope you’ll consider joining me for coffee on March 18th. We’ll meet at Brewtopia in Harbour Landing from 9 to 11 a.m. The goal is to connect and catch Up. If you’re interested in me hosting something similar in the evening, please let me know.
Invest in Community
As things begin to thaw and defrost after a frigid winter, I hope we will be intentional as a congregation in connecting. Take time to visit after church, go for coffee or lunch, or invite someone to your home. We benefit and grow as disciples when we connect with others we don’t know as well or who have a different background than us. How are you going to help build community and be blessed by it?

So here’s a mix of random thoughts this week.

Peace and Grace,
Pastor Mike
