2021 Christmas Events at Parliament Community Church

Below is a list of upcoming Christmas events at Parliament Community Church.

Sunday Services during Advent

Online and In Person. Starting November 28th we’ll be celebrating the season of Advent in our worship services. With the lighting of the Advent wreath, singing familiar christmas carols and reading parts of the Christmas Story… we will help set a space where you can focus on the true meaning of Christmas. Each week we will be hearing a message from Pastor Mike in our Advent sermon series called “Do You see What I See”. We will look at Mary and Joseph, the Shepherds and Magi over the Advent Sundays and see them through the eyes of the world in which the lived, but also the eyes of God who used them in incredible ways. We’ll conclude by reflecting on “What does God want us to see?”

Online Prayer Meeting – Dec 4 @ 9 AM

Online Only. Join us for an online prayer meeting on Saturday, December 4th at 9 AM. We will be taking time to pray about the coming weeks of Advent and Christmas, for our community, our country and the world. You can join us on Zoom at pcomm.ca/pray.

Nativity Escape Rooms – Dec 4, 8, 15, 18, 20

In Person Only. Join with family or friends and race to escape the quickest on December 4th, 8th, 15th, 18th, or 20th! The Nativity Escape Room is designed with those 8+ in mind but can be done by those younger (would just require more parent involvement). The teams with the fastest escape time in their category, win prizes. To book a time slot sign up at pcomm.ca/nativity.

Ugly Sweater Contest

We’d love to see your photos of you in your ugliest Christmas sweater. You can upload photos at pcomm.ca/upload to us. We’ll show them on the sanctuary screen on Sunday morning and will also post them on the church facebook and instagram pages. This is a great way to see one another and to have some fun! You of course are more than welcome to wear them to church anytime you want as well. Kids are welcome (with parents permission) to send pictures as well whether in ugly sweaters or their favourite Christmas pajamas!

Heritage Builders Carol Sing – Dec 7 @ 10 AM

In Person Only.Join the Heritage Builders for a carol sing and Scripture reading on December 7th @ 10 AM. Afterwards, there will be Christmas baking, quizzes and door prizes. All 55+ are welcome!

ParliamentYouth Christmas Party – Dec 10 @ 6:45 PM

In Person Only. The ParliamentYouth will be having a Christmas Party on Friday, December 10th at 6:45 PM.

Blue Christmas Service – Dec 11 @ 7 PM

Online and In person.This service is a time to acknowledge the grief that people may experience this time of year. If you are grieving a lost loved one, please join us in person at Parliament Community Church or online at pcomm.ca/live on December 11th @ 7 PM. We will be lighting candles for each person you have lost.

Family Christmas Eve – Dec 24 @ 6:30 PM

Online and In person. Join us for a Christmas Eve Service geared towards families with young children on Friday, December 24th at 6:30 PM. This service is fun and uplifting and filled with many classic carols we love to sing at Christmas. We end the service with lighting of glowsticks that children are welcome to bring home. Service of Carols and Lessons – Dec 24 @ 8 PM

Online and In person. Join us for a reflective Christmas Eve Service on Friday, December 24th at 8 PM. This service is more quiet and reflective, as we reflect on each of the advent candles finally coming to the Christ candle where we celebrate and reflect on the gift of the baby in the manger. We end the service with a time of candlighting to remind us that Jesus is the light of the world, and the light of our lives. Join us online at pcomm.ca/live.

At-Home Boxing Day Service @ 10:45 am

Online Only. Join us online on Boxing Day for an ‘at home’ online only worship service. We’ll be finishing off our sermon series “Do You See What I See” as we look at the prophetess Anna. The service will only be available online on boxing day we invite you to stay at home, grab a hot chocolate, a tea, or coffee and join us in worshipping the birth of Jesus from the comfort of your house. Advent Reflect Videos

Online Only. Each Sunday during Advent and Christmas we will continue posting a new REFLECT video on Sunday nights at 7 pm. These videos will lead us through a reflective prayer time designed to facilitate our listening to God through our prayer time. during Advent we will be using Lectio Divina to pray through different passage of the Christmas story and the prophecies and will take time to Reflect and listen to what God is saying to us through these passages.
